Trump Airlines was an earlier business venture for the Wharton grad. Trump bought the existing airline Eastern Air Shuttle and tried to transform it into a more luxurious brand and experience. The issue with this was that wasn’t what people were necessarily looking for in an airline at the time. The planes were decked out in gold in order to make the planes look more high class compared to other airlines. It is said that this business venture burned through cash, forcing it out of business in 1992. It is no secret that Trump has tried to turn several different industries into a profitable investment for himself and for his brand.

This gold bottled vodka was supposed the be “a huge success”, but was far from close. The business venture took off in 2006 and was closed down about five years later. Interesting that the business man would get into the alcohol business despite not being a drinker himself. He has repeatedly stated that he does not drink or smoke and has passed that advice down to his children. You would think that to really understand the business, you need to be quite the connoisseur. Maybe that is why we no longer see the golden bottles lining the shelves.
