If you are trying to branch out and move past $10 box wine and slapping the bag on Saturday nights, just look ten feet beyond the cardboard to the real stuff: in glass bottles. You don’t have to be a wine connoisseur to know what you like, but if you don’t want to run through seven bottles and $95 trying to figure that out, look no further.
My personal favorite is Cabernet Sauvignon, which is a full-bodied red wine that typically has a distinct bold flavor. Some recommendations:
Francis Ford Coppola, Director’s Cut Cabernet Sauvignon: for the price (around $20), definitely one the best.
Noble Vines, 337 Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon: a typical house wine at Italian restaurants, 337 is a great choice for under 20 bucks.
I am not a fan of any white wine I have ever tried, but for those of you who are, here are some suggestions:
Dancing Bull, Chardonnay: a mildly sweet variety of Chardonnay that can be found for under $15.
A to Z, Pinot Gris: this one has some fruity, summer accents to it, and is also under $15.
