Sir George Martin CBE, or also popularly known as “The Fifth Beatle”, was British record producer. Over the last several decades, many people have claimed themselves to be the fifth Beatle, but George Martin was the only person who credibly deserved that title. He was the man who signed The Beatles to their first record contract in 1962 and continued to work with the band on the vast majority of their music over the next eight years.
He was born in England on January 3, 1926. Throughout his long career in music industry, he worked with plenty of artists prior, during, and following the success of The Beatles. He died on March 8, 2016 at the age of 90.
